Partnerships

Under the Reading Tree is committed to working with other national and international organizations with an educational focus. We are in a unique position to contribute to the work of these organizations through our 'on the ground' initiatives, and are always looking for opportunities to partner in bringing greater educational opportunity to communities in developing countries.

Current project partners in Uganda include:

National Library of Uganda (NLU)
Kampala

The National Library of Uganda is the Ugandan government's agency responsible for setting national policy on public and community libraries. Through assistance with national and international partners, the NLU promotes reading culture through book promotion events, development of school and community libraries and sourcing both donated and purchased books. Current joint projects with Under the Reading Tree include community libraries in Buikwe and Mpigi.

INFORALL Uganda
Kampala

INFORALL was founded in 2004 by Andrew Bayunga, a degree graduate in Library and Information Sciences from Makerere University. Motivated by the conviction that ‘Information is not a luxury,’ Andrew decided that somebody needed to fill the void and provide space where people can read, learn, discuss ideas, and ultimately find creative ways to address the economic and social challenges Ugandans face on a daily basis. Based out of a small office and staffed by an enthusiastic group of volunteers and a growing library of books and other resources, INFORALL is a valuable partner in monitoring and assisting the progress of Under the Reading Tree projects in Uganda.
