Randa

Founded by the Randa United Farmers Group (RUFG), this library is in one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Uganda, high in the hills several hours drive from Mbale. RUFG started the library in 2009 after wanting to do something for the broader community, and particularly the children, as there were essentially no books in the entire village. Through their own efforts, they secured the use of two rooms in a house built by a local civil servant, rent free, for three years. All they needed was some books and a part-time salary for a librarian.

UTRT agreed to adopt Randa in July of 2009, and we're providing a modest monthly budget covering the part-time librarian's salary, and an annual grant for buying books.
